NSR 2013

O

The National Student Rodeo was huge this year and Lincoln hit the event with high intentions. NSR is one the worlds largest kayaking events and has around 1000 students, from over 40 universities hitting Holme Pierrepont (HPP) white water course, for a weekend of kayaking, competing, having fun and some serious partying. On the first day the Extreme Slalom was held on the morning, which entailed a variety of tasks down the course, where competitors gain scores at each stage. This is where competitors are broken down into there ability groups: Male novice, intermediate and expert as well as female novice and expert. The heats for these k1 competitions were then spread across the weekend.

Mens Novice had Josh Williamson & Tom Candy,

Mens intermediate had Ant Mitchell & Will Johnson Competing

Mens Expert had Dave Gibson Competing

Female expert had Rachel Turner

All of the team did amazing in there heats and in great excitement we had Josh Williamson go forth to the Novice Finals. Here with much assistance from the rest of the team, Josh did all sorts of skills against the best of his class. Unfortunately he didn’t make the top 3 but we as a club know Josh did his best and had great fun. We are all proud of him and our other competitors.

Other competitions we were involved in were the Duo with Dave Gibson with Shaun Hazell in one boat and Rachel Turner with Tom Candy in another. In great Regret we did not make it through the heats. More practice needed i guess

The weekend was topped off by an amazing circus themed party, some great kayaking and opportunities to meet many other teams out and about the country.
